http://www.pisaf.or.kr/
https://www.facebook.com/pisaf.ani.3
Date: Oct 22, 2014 - Oct 26, 2014
About the event:
In 1999, the Puchon International Student Animation Festival (PISAF) embarked on its journey as the sole animation festival in Asia dedicated solely to students and has since earned high marks for the quality of its selections. PISAF has also committed itself to becoming a venue in which to introduce animations created by animators from home and abroad and nurture new talents in the digital content industry. The festival’s central program is its International Student Competition, which is designed to discover young and promising new talent in animation and showcase their work. There are two categories: Short Animated Films (less than 30 minutes) and New Media Content, which can include many different formats such as Internet/web, Mobile-based, stopmotion graphics, interactive animations and etc. In 2011 over 1,200 films from all over the world were submitted to PISAF.
Along with the competition, PISAF offers many opportunities for young animated filmmakers to meet masters of the cartoon and animation world. In 2011, Disney animator John Musker, director of The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Hercules and The Princess and the Frog have been featured. PISAF has played a major role in creating a network linking animation festivals worldwide through its collaborations with film fests in Annecy, Ottawa, Hiroshima, Zagreb, and the Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film. The festival also offers a cartoon and animation experience program to attract interested audience members. The program is also aimed at exposing the ways that cartoons and animation can help develop creativity across a variety of fields. PISAF hopes to see more people enjoying cartoon and animation in the future.
PISAF 2014, the festival’s 16th edition, will be held on October 22-26 with screenings, an animation fair, an educational convention and a variety of other special events.

Launched in 1957 with the mission of selecting American films for international film festivals, the semi-annual CINE Golden Eagle Competion honors the best in film, television and digital media. From its earliest days, CINE utilized (and still utilizes) a jury system to choose the best among the many films submitted, honoring them with the CINE Golden Eagle Award; the peer recognition of excellence that a prestigious CINE Golden Eagle confers still opens doors. In the more than half century since its first competition, CINE alumni whose films have made the world laugh, cry, think, argue and change, include Ken Burns, Mel Brooks, Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard, Spike Lee, Stanley Nelson, Mira Nair, Robert Zemeckis, Jim Henson, Pixar Animation Studios, Quincy Jones and Mike Nichols - and that's just a partial list.
Some things stand the test of time, and CINE's knack for picking winners is one of them. The opportunity for emerging filmmakers to join this prestigious group continues. Recently, several of the winning films in our student division have gone on to win gold or silver medals at the Student Academy Awards, have shown their films at major festivals, and are working in the industry at places such as Walt Disney Animation Studios.
The competition has kept pace with the industry, with new divisions and categories to provide opportunities for a variety of media producers. The CINE Golden Eagle Competition includes divisions for student and independent filmmakers in all genres; TV documentaries, fiction, reality and news; advertising; children's programming; industrials; and digital programming.
Do you think your production has what it takes to win a CINE Golden Eagle Award? Show us what you've got!
