Today at the Palais both "Days of Glory" and "The Family Friend" debut in the Lumiere Theatre.

Salvador's Star

Un Certain Regard film "Salvador" features Daniel Bruhl. He is the son of a Spanish mother and a German father. The role was the actors biggest career challenge. He had to learn how to speak Catalan. But Salvador is ot Bruhls first film here in Cannes. He stared in "The Edukatos" in competition in 2004 lastyear was in out of competition "Joyeux Noel". Bruhl just finished shooting "in Transit" which also features John Malkovich.

Linklater Xs 2

Richard Linklater sure has been busy. Not only did he direct the in competition film "Fast Food Nation" but also directs Un Certain Regard's "A Scanner Darkly". The film features Keanu Reeves, Winona Ryder and Robert Downey Jr. "Darkly" is a journy into the absurd and highlights the inconsistencies and ironic consequences of the war on drugs.

Venice is Next

As The Festival de Cannes comes to a close the 63rd Venice International Film Festival is aleady brewing. The festival begins August 30th and ends September 9th. Films to premier in Venics may include "The Good Shepard" directed by Robert De Niro, "The Fountain" directed by Darren Aronofsky, and perhaps even Ridley Scott's "A Good Year" starring Russell Crow.
