Spain is Back!!

In this years Festival Spain is making its biggest presence in years. With such films as Volver, Pan's Labyrinth, Salvador, Honor of the Night, and Azur and Asmar, Spain's entries havent been this high is a decade. Spain's film making tradiotionaly combines artistic ambition with genre grounding. In the pasr Spain has discovered no leaps and bounds but we will see how this years entries hold up at the awards ceremony.

"Princess" is for adults

Director's Fortnight Opener "Princess" is a Japanimation film that attacks the porn industry. The film is directed by Anders Morganthaler and is a contender for the Camera d'Or. The film is most definately for adults due to its explicit content. Morganthaler is unapologentic for his blunt images and strong point of view. The film is a mix of Japenese animation and live action footage. Leave your kids at home for this one, this cartoon is strictly for adults.

The Da Vinci Code Banned in Greece

The nation's movie regulators have banned "Code" from people under the age of 17 because of the highly religous content that children under that age would not understand. The cinematographic commission says the movie references to religious groups with questionable principalsand undermines faith. The film is considered blasphelous and teenagers weres denied tickets on the opening day of the film.
