Sunday will be the big award ceremony of the Cannes International Film Festival. A sure winner for either the Palme d'Or or the Camera d'Or have not yet been determined. The European Union's Media Programme has banked $970 million dollars from the years 2007-2013. The money will be spread through the media and entertainment industry. The percentages of the fund will be used for training (7%), developing(20%), distribution (55%), promotion (9%), and pilot projects (4%). It is the midpoint of the festival and the artistry of some of the films are in question. Critics argue that there is little creative representation. Yesterday a preview of "Dreamgirls" featuring Jamie Foxx, Beyonce Knowles, and Eddie Murphy was held in the Martinez. The films overseas success was in question due the musical nature with black stars. The film is said to be quite smart and not what you'd expect. I have been in Cannes for over three monthes now and durring the past week the city has completly changed. The population has increased, buildings being redecorated, and prices increasing 3xs and its all because of the festival. I was lucky enough to get a good spot near the steps.
