Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival Jury selected

The juries of the 12th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival have been selected

The two most important juries of the 12th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF) – official jury of the international competition programme EurAsia and the jury of Tridens Baltic feature film competition – have been selected.

The jury of the international competition programme EurAsia comprises producer and actor Rain Tolk (Estonia), producer and director Brian Yuzna (Indonesia/USA), president of the Festroia Association Fernanda Silva (Portugal), founder of Dutch Film Festival and renown director Jos Stelling (The Netherlands), and director and producer Nana Djordjadze (Georgia).

Jury will give out the Grand Prix for the best film (10 000 euros from the city of Tallinn) as well as prizes for Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor and a Special Jury Prize.

The jury of new competition section - Tridens Baltic feature film competition - comprises producer Piret Tibbo-Hudgins (Estonia), head of publishing house Wallflower Press Yoram Allon (UK), film historian and critic Hans-Joachim Schlegel (Germany), sound director Martin Maryska (USA), and Stede Ingram (Lithuania), founder and head of Baltic’s biggest film distributor ACME Film.

Jury will give Tridens Baltic Film Award for the best Baltic feature film (scholarship of 5000 euros) and Scottish Leader Estonian Film Award for the best Estonian feature film (scholarship of 50.000 kroons).

There are three other juries judging PÖFF films this year: NETPAC (Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema), FICC (International Federation of Film Clubs) and FIPRESCI (The International Federation of Film Critics) juries.

The winner of last year’s PÖFF international competition programme EurAsia Grand Prix was Turkish film “Takva”. Scottish Leader Estonian Film Award 2007 was given to Veiko Õunpuu for his “Autumn Ball”.

12th PÖFF takes place from 13 November to 7 December 2008. Main programme, running from 28 November, is preceded by the sub-festivals Sleepwalkers, Animated Dreams and Just Film.
