Fried Chicken

Director: Serdar YILMAZ.
In a family made up of a grandmother, daughter and a 9-year old granddaughter, granddaughter is forced to eat. The moral supporter of this little girl who feels contented about her games and within her own world, is a man behind the curtain only visible to her and no one has any clue whether this man is real or imaginary. While the Fried Chicken is a monstrous and aversive thing for the little girl, it turns in to a four - meter -long avant-garde object that is pulled over by the (same) man behind the curtain under cheers in an isolated corner (street) populated by the homeless.

You chose to go with your team to some villages near Sofia. Did you find any interesting places? We toured several villages across the gorge of the Iskar River. I think the most interesting place we found was an old, completely deserted railway station. There were no people and the small building was full of remnants of past life. Among the waste, bird nests and broken things, I found a very old writing desk. It was astonishing that on the inner side of one of its doors were post...

Q&A with Reis Çelik at İstanbul Film Festival

user
“Men are in the gloom!” Director Reis Çelik talks about his film, Night of Silence in the National Competition. In the film on child-brides, Reis Çelik is in obstinacy just like he was in İnat Hikayeleri. He puts such a strong actor as İlyas Salman and a beautiful young girl in the marriage room and never leaves the room. He makes us watch the film even without breathing for 90 minutes. The film returned with a Crystal Bear from Berlin Film Festival, and its journey in T...
