Day 9 Recap:
Granted, the Starz Denver Film Festival in its entirety is a celebration in their honor, but we at the Denver Film Society literally toasted the talents who make all this possible during the Independent Filmmakers' Reception at the Postmodern last night, where the Lillet flowed like the chocolate atop the made-to-order treats from Crêpes 'n Crêpes. We didn't just put them in the spotlight, however-we also put a few of them on the spot during the Indie Film Roulette panel, as fe...

"Tarantino's GLOURIOS BURSTERDS"
Grokked at ODEON Muswell Hill, London, Tues. August 25, 2009
I have never been a great Quentin Tarantino fan ( I hated "Pulp Fiction" and walked out of "Reservoir Dogs") but right off the bat I will have to say that even if he doesn't get an Oscar this year, Mr. Q. should at least get a medal - the Congressional Medal of Honour (of Poland and Israel?) - for telling it like it should have been, ev...
I have never been a great Quentin Tarantino fan ( I hated “Pulp Fiction” and walked out of “Reservoir Dogs”) but right off the bat I will have to say that even if he doesn’t get an Oscar this year, Mr. Q. should at least get a medal – the Congressional Medal of Honour (of Poland and Israel?) – for telling it like it should have been, even if it wasn’t quite actually that way. Any person of Jewish persuasion who does not stand up and cheer at various points in this tremendous...

Director: Krisztina GODA.
Gábor is an office cleaner. Wearing overalls and a baseball hat, he seems insignificant. Working on the night shift, Gábor rarely has any contact with his employers, yet he learns everything about them by thoroughly analyzing their garbage. Since he is almost invisible, nobody suspects that Gábor is, in fact, a con man who carefully chooses his victims by the trash they leave behind. His targets are mostly disillusioned, lonely women. In a few months he destroys all their romantic illusions by taking all their savings. Having an unusually high IQ and an ability to assume various personalities, Gábor is an expert in manipulation. When he gets a job at a psychologist's office, Gábor meets Hanna, an injured dancer who happens to be the daughter of a millionaire. Insecure and vulnerable, Hanna seems to be the perfect victim. Gábor pretends to be a doctor who can cure her body and her soul, an irresistible offer for a desperate woman. Everything goes according to plan until Gábor falls in love with Hanna and has to make a hard decision between her and the money.
DAY TWENTY
The flight was uneventful. It was a good thing I had some cookies from the Edinburgh train. I paced myself through-out the trip. I had ordered two meals, but there is a good 9-10 hours in between them.
Upon arrival, I was surprised to see ALL Malaysian workers with face masks. We had to go through a single-file line with a heat-sensing camera aimed at us. They were taking no chances with passengers arriving from countries which have had cases of H1N1 flu, and London f...

#What It’s Like to Chill with the Most Ruthless Men in the World
Ratko Mladic and Radovan Karadzic:
Confessions of a Female War Crimes Investigator
Retrospectively, it was all so simple, natural and matter of fact being on a boat restaurant in Belgrade, sitting with, laughing, drinking a two hundred bottle of wine and chatting about war and peace while Ratko Mladic held my hand. Mladic, a man considered the world’s most ruthless war criminal since Adolf Hitler, still at larg...
DAY NINETEEN
I woke up early and was able to get on a WIFI signal to check my email. I sent one to my mom and let her know I didn't have to spend the night on the streets of London. Tom was still sleeping so I decided at 8am I should wake him up so I could get going.
A cup of tea later and after a quick check of train timetables, we were on our way by bus to Liverpool Street Station. I had come full circle as we rode the same bus I took late that first night I arrived in London ...
