•1.          Dorian Gray (2009)

Cursed character: Dorian Gray - played by Ben Barnes

The Story: Fresh-faced and innocent, Dorian Gray arrives in London to move into the house he has inherited. Almost immediately he falls under the influence of amoral and calculating Lord Henry Wotton, leading to a life of increasing debauchery and even violence. Through many years Gray stays as young-looking as ever, while a portrait painted when he arrived grows old, reflecting his increasing excesses. Eventually the picture, now secreted in his attic, becomes almost hideous to behold. When true love finally enters his life he realises he must guard his secret at all costs.

The Curse: Selling his soul to the Devil in return for eternal youth and beauty and paying the evil consequences that come with this curse

 

•2.                                        Drag Me To Hell (2009)

Cursed character: Christine Brown - played by Alison Lohman

The Story: Christine Brown is responsible for loans in a bank and expects to be promoted to assistant manager after dealing a big contract. When Mrs Ganush, an old gypsy who has been evicted by the bank requests a third extension of her mortgage, Christine denies the loan to prove to her boss that she can take tough decisions. Mrs. Ganush begs for the loan       but Christine shames the woman calling the security. In the night, Christine is stalked by Mrs. Ganush in the parking lot and they struggle. Out of the blue, Mrs, Ganush removes a button from Christine's coat, curses it, returns the button to her and vanishes. Under the Curse, Christine receives many terrifying visits from Mrs. Ganush.

 

The Curse: Once the button from the old Gypsy woman is cursed, Christine has only a few days to destroy it in the right way before the evil that lurks below will drag her to Hell.

 

•3.            Beauty and the Beast (1991)

Cursed character: The Beast - voice by Robby Benson

The Story: Belle is a girl dissatisfied with life in a small provincial French town, constantly trying to fend off the misplaced "affections" of the conceited Gaston. The Beast is a prince who was placed under a spell because he could not love. A wrong turn taken by Maurice, Belle's father, causes the two to meet. If the Beast can get Belle to fall in love with him, his curse will be lifted and he will become a handsome prince.

 

The Curse: Being trapped in the body of a beast because he could not love. Once someone falls in love with him, the spell will be broken.

 

•4.            Hellraiser (1987)

Cursed character: Larry - played by Andrew Robinson

The Story: Clive Barker's feature directing debut graphically depicts the tale of a man and wife who move into an old house and discover a hideous creature - the man's half-brother, who is also the woman's former lover - hiding upstairs. Having lost his earthly body to a trio of S&M demons - the Cenobites, he is brought back into existence by a drop of blood on the floor. He soon forces his former mistress to bring him his necessary human sacrifices to complete his body... but the Cenobites won't be happy about this.

The Curse: Once the creature receives a drop of living blood - it will curse the un-dead to bring him what he needs to have a complete body again

 

•5.         The Ring (2002)

Cursed character: Rachel - played by Naomi Watts

The Story: Rachel Keller is a journalist investigating a videotape that may have killed four teenagers (including her niece). There is an urban legend about this tape: the viewer will die seven days after watching it. If the legend is correct, Rachel will have to run against time to save her son's and her own life.

The Curse: Once the tape is viewed, the 7 day countdown begins and some weird and freaky happenings occur including visits from the un-dead.

 

•6.            The Wolfman (2010)

Cursed Character: Laurence Talbot - played by Benicio Del Toro

The Story: Lawrence Talbot, a haunted nobleman, is lured back to his family estate after his brother vanishes. Talbot sets out to find his brother... and discovers a horrifying destiny for himself... he is a werewolf. Talbot returns home to join the search. He learns that something with brute strength and insatiable bloodlust has been killing the villagers.

The Curse: Once bitten by a Werewolf, on every full moon the victim will turn into a blood-thirsty killer of which they will have no recollection of the following day.

 

 

•7.            Thinner (1996)

Cursed character: Billy Halleck - played by Robert John Burke

The Story: A fat Lawyer finds himself growing "Thinner" when an old gypsy man places a hex on him. Now the lawyer must call upon his friends in organized crime to help him persuade the gypsy to lift the curse. Time is running out for the desperate lawyer as he draws closer to his own death, and grows even thinner

The Curse: Once the lawyer makes his wish, he is then cursed and then his wish will be granted but to the extreme... leading to death.

 

•8.         The Grudge (2004)

Cursed character: Karen - played by Sarah Michelle Gellar

The Story: Karen Davis is an American Nurse who moves to Tokyo and encounters a supernatural spirit who is vengeful and often possesses its victims. A series of horrifying and mysterious deaths start to occur, with the spirit passing its curse onto each victim. Karen must now find a way to break this spell, before she becomes its next victim.

The Curse: The supernatural spirit curses it's victims and tortures and torments them until they are dead.

 

•9.         Sleeping Beauty (1959)

Cursed character: Princess Aurora - voice by Mary Costa

The Story: Adaptation of the fairy tale of the same name. Princess Aurora is cursed by the evil witch Maleficent - who declares that before Aurora reaches her 16th birthday she will die by a poisoned spinning-wheel. To try to prevent this, the king places her into hiding, in the care of three good natured - but not too bright - fairies.

The Curse: the Dark Fairy curses the princess so that when she touches a spinning wheel's spindle before the sun sets on her sixteenth birthday she will be put into an ageless sleep.

•10.       The Evil Dead (1981)

Cursed character: Ash Williams - played by Bruce Campbell

The Story: Five friends go up to a cabin in the woods where they find unspeakable evil lurking in the forest. They find the Necronomicon and the taped translation of the text. Once the tape is played, the evil is released. One by one, the teens become deadly zombies. With only one remaining, it is up to him to survive the night and battle the evil dead.

 

The Curse: Once the tape is played and the un-dead evil is released you will become a zombie.
