Guam International Film FestivalThe Guam International Film Festival is proud to officially announce its open call for entries for the 2014 season! In short, we're the cinematic bridge between the U.S. and Asia. Our past festivals include Academy Award, Sundance and Cannes Palme d'Or winners side-by-side with first-time DIY indie filmmakers. We're eclectic and we love film. Only a few hours away from major international metropolitan cities such as Sydney, Manila, Tokyo, Seoul, Taipei, and Hong Kong, Guam has always served as the global gateway to a unique mix of professionals from the US, Asia and Pacific rim offering a platform to exchange opportunities in business and entertainment. GIFF is the first and only annual U.S. film festival in the Western Pacific. GIFF strives to capture the passion and spirit of independent filmmakers and their films as we showcase them to the Pacific Asia region. ![]() 2012 Guam Int'l. Film Festival Announces Call for EntriesThe Guam International Film Festival (GIFF) has officially announced its open call for entries for its second annual event scheduled to take place from September 27th through September 30th, 2012. The final date for submissions is August 3, 2012. GIFF executive producers and co-founders, Don and Kel Muna, have returned with former Paramount Studios director of development, J.D. Iriarte, as Festival Director. "The 2012 GIFF will be a refined version of last year's celebration focusing on the three core values of GIFF's mission: Community, Education and entertainment", says Don Muna. GIFF proudly presents itself as an international cinema event exhibiting a dynamic source of cross-cultural artistic presence, bridging gaps among the U.S., Asia and the Pacific's multi-cultural population and region. GIFF is the first and only annual U.S. film festival in the Western Pacific. Program Director, Kel Muna, states "Building on the success of last year's inaugural event of which we've received submissions from over twenty countries from around the world, I'm very excited for year two as we continue to provide a home for world-class cinema right here in the heart of Pacific Asia". The mission of the Guam International Film Festival is to foster cultural understanding through the art of cinema, while providing opportunities for local talent to flourish through the international cinema market. The four day festival will feature special events including screenings of international independent films including Pacific Asian films, filmmaking workshops, gala events and awards ceremonies.
