Strong start for Fantasporto : the audience is back
After an opening of a great show and a lot of public that almost filled the Rivoli and where xxxHOLIC was shown in the world premiere in an Official Session preceded by an intervention by Beatriz Pacheco Pereira, founder and co-director of Fantasporto with Mário Dorminsky, a room with about than 500 people saw or rewatched Ridley Scott's BLADE RUNNER, in celebration of its 40th anniversary of its European premiere in 1982, also at FANTASPORTO, but in the old Carlos Alberto, room that hosted the Festival for about 15 years.
This weekend there is a lot of good cinema unpublished in Portugal, which includes six of the films in the World and European Premiere to be shown, makes Fantasporto, a rare luxury "bubble" for the new world cinema, in Porto, something that welcomes around 40 foreign journalists who seek to see, first of all, the films to be shown in order to talk about them around the world.
This surprise for many, a real slap for many in Portugal, elevates the festival to a level identical to competitions like Cannes, Venice or Toronto, an unprecedented situation in Portugal.
