FORUM THE FUTURE NOW : 21st- 24th February

This forum is organized in cooperation with various entities of recognized quality in the fields of the Arts and Sciences, and it is coordinated by the Director of Fantasporto, Beatriz Pacheco Pereira. The aim is to obtain multiple visions on the future in such areas as the Theatre, Cinema, Literature, Architecture Optics, Robotics, Biomedical Sciences, Physics, Medicine, Politics, Journalism, the Web or Textile investigation .

All the initiatives within this forum will be held under the sign of the official celebration of the 30th anniversary of the film "Blade Runner", worldwide acknowledged as one of the best films in cinema history, a movie directed by Ridley Scott and premiered in Fantasporto'1983, now screening in the closing session of the Forum with a special permission of the American representatives of the film.

Holograms and Optical Technology
Rivoli Theatre

Exhibition of holograms developed in partnership with the Museum of Science of the Faculty of Science, University of Porto, with the collaboration of Professor Luís Miguel Bernardo, Director of the Museum, and coordinated by Prof. Hélder M. Crespo, Assistant Professor at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Porto. The exhibition aims to demonstrate some aspects of optical technology developed in Porto, building a bridge with the movies, namely by illustrating the methods of stereoscopy, which are at the base of the modern 3D movies, but whose principles were already established in the XIX century.

PORTO, FANTASPORTO & BLADE RUNNER

First presentation of a new giant hologram created by the Museum of Science of the Faculty of Science of University of Porto, for Fantasporto and  the special celebration of 30 years of the film "Blade Runner". The new element in holographic technology was created for Fantasporto, thus establishing a strong visual relationship between the classic film, Fantasporto and the City of Porto. This new hologram will later integrate the collection of the Museum of Optics of University of Porto.

FIRST PRESENTATION OF THE BOOK

First presentation of the book “An Anthology of Science Fiction Short Stories- Fantasporto 2012”, edited by Rogério Ribeiro and promoted by Fantasporto 2012, published by 1001 Mundos (ASA, Grupo Leya).

This book includes the winners of a international short story competition that took place in 2011, and short stories from renowned writers that have been invited especially for this edition. This book  has a simultaneous edition in Brazil (Tarja Editorial).
