México City in the international documentary film festival


THE MEXICO CITY INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL HAS BEEN PRESENTED

Pau Montagud and Inti Cordera, organizers of DOCSDF; Ana Cruz, Programming Director of the Cineteca Nacional; Carlos Taibo, Production Director at IMCINE and Juan Carlos Rulfo, Film Director, met at the Centro Cultural España to give out the details on the festival, and parallel activities that will take place during it.

Cinemanía Plaza Loreto, Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana, Centro Cultural Bella Época, Centro Cultural de España, Cineteca Nacional, Cinematógrafo del Chopo, Cinemex Insurgentes y Cinemex Casa de Arte, places at which DOCSDF will take place, will screen documentaries from Spain, Canada, Brazil, Germany Cuba, France, Sweden, Great Britain, Chile, United States, Finland and, of course, México.

During DOCSDF, which will take place from september 21th to the 30th, more than 100 documentaries will be screened, a documentary film making Rally will be held, screenings with the director’s presence, a production workshop as well as a seminary imparted by the prestigous Chilean film maker Patricio Guzmán, among other events.

DOCSDF will place México City in the international documentary film festival circuit, and it will create a space that audiences demand, and offer a programming of international cuality.

As to the guests, the following appearances are confirmed:

Román Gubern. College profesor and cinema historian.

Patricio Guzmán, Chilean autor of, among other films, La batalla de Chile (The Battle Of Chile).

Javier Corchera, Peruvian autor of La espalda del mundo (The World’s Sword) and Invierno en Bagdad (Winter in Bagdad).

Fernando León de Aranoa, Spaniard author who will present his documentary Caminantes (Walkers).

Javier Martín Vázquez, Argentinian author of Amando a Maradona (Loving Maradonna).

Juan Carlos Rulfo, film maker of En el Hoyo (In The Hole)

Pirjo Honsokalo, film maker of Las tres habitaciones de la melancolía, (3 Rooms of Melancholy, Finlandia)

Lázara Herrera, widow and producer of Santiago Álvarez

Ismael Perdomo, Cuban film maker. Assistant Director for Santiago Álvarez.
