A new Head at the European Documentary Network

With the appointment of Cecilia Lidin as Head of EDN follows also a reorganisation of the EDN office and of the way EDN will be functioning. The daily running and strategic planning will be done in shared management between Lidin and EDN Network Manager Hanne Skjødt. Together they will be responsible for both the short and long term developments of EDN and will be referring to the EDN Executive Committee.

Besides these changes at the EDN office Cecilia Lidin also plans to re-structure the way EDN operates its workshops and seminars. About this new structure Cecilia Lidin says:

"I think it is time to re-think EDN and adapt the structure of our organisation to the changing landscape we are navigating in. We want to be a more flexible and vibrant organisation, which means incorporating our extensive network much more in our workshops, seminars and development programs. By making stronger use of the solid network EDN has in all corners of the international documentary scene, our organisation will become an even stronger entity in delivering tailor made training, development programs, market events and knowledge."

Concretely Cecilia Lidin will formalize a network of EDN Experts who will be much stronger involved in the many EDN workshops and seminars. It will be a varied group of professionals making it possible for EDN to always draw upon the latest expertise and knowledge of new developments happening in the international documentary sector.

At the same time Lidin will also strengthen the use of the already existing competences in the EDN office. The aim is to deliver stronger results on some of the already existing EDN outputs like The EDN Financing Guide, DOX Magazine and the web site edn.dk. In addition EDN will expand into new areas and launch new initiatives during 2010.

New Chairman and members of the Executive Committee

The appointment of Cecilia Lidin as the new Head of EDN came at the newly held EDN General Assembly where also a new Chairman and new members of the Executive Committee were elected. New EDN Chairman is German director, producer and CEO of onlinefilm.org C. Cay Wesnigk. Newly elected members of the committee are Ivana Milosevic, Director & Coordinator at Institute of Documentary Film, Czech Republic; Raffaele Brunetti, Director, Producer & CEO B&B Film, Italy & Kees Ryninks, Producer, Cobos Films, The Netherlands.

About EDN
European Documentary Network, EDN, is stimulating networks & knowledge
within the documentary sector. EDN provides documentary consulting and informs about possibilities for funding, financing, development, co-production, distribution and collaboration across borders. This is done via individual consultancy to members on documentary projects, activities like workshops, seminars and conferences as well as through the two indispensable publications DOX magazine and The EDN Financing Guide.

EDN started in September 1996 as a documentary organization. Now over 1000 members from more than 60 countries have joined EDN. The organisation is open for both newcomers and established filmmakers.
