Business Reigns in Cannes But The Show Must Go On!There is much excitement during this time as the Cannes Film Festival events are underway. The one aspect that does not get as much publicity, however, is the business end of the show. There are buyers and film production companies looking to sign with film makers from all over the world. In the "Marche du Film", or Film Market, companies are set up with booths all over the building offering films and services for film production. Screenings are held on the upper levels of the building, and those admitted to the films are those with the red badge. The red badge is only for buyers or sellers involved with the festival. The festival is, after all, for the promotion and recognition of films around the globe. The business of networking is also a key player in the game of the film industry. Film makers are finding editing teams to work with and promotion companies (i.e. filmfestivals.com). When one takes a step outside of the Palais, business is continuing all around. Film crews are taking footage of the town, interviewing important people, and promoting their own films enrolled in the festival. Nightclubs are handing out flyers and talking up their evening spot. Local shops, restaurants, and cafes are thriving from all of the visitors in town. At every corner there is an opportunity for business to be made. Even energy drink companies are promoting their products! While all of this business is going on, tourists are just enjoying the ambiance and excitement of the festival. The beaches are crowded and the Croissette is constantly overflowing with those hoping to catch a glance at a celebrity. Business men and women are found in the crowd, too, walking to a press conference or meeting; these people must get through all of the madness and make their goals a reality. At the end of the day, there are fireworks and grand activities on the red carpet (i.e. U2's 2 set act Saturday night). There is much going on in the working place during the Cannes Film Festival, but as said in Hollywood: "The Show Must Go On!" 24.05.2007 | Cannes's blog Cat. : Cannes Cannes Cannes Cannes Film Festival CDATA energy Entertainment Entertainment Film festival France Human Interest Human Interest the Cannes Film Festival The Show Must Go On!
