TuTuMUCH

TuTuMUCH is pleased to join the festival community at filmfestivals.com.

“A raw look at an exclusive world” - National Post, Jan 2010

“A rare and tantalising glimpse into the audition highs and lows - Ballet News, May 2010

“An undiscovered masterpiece – Seoul International Family Film Festival, October 2010   TuTuMUCH follows nine young ballet dancers as they plié, pirouette and compete for highly-coveted spots in an intensive four-week professional ballet summer school program. Leaving behind their families and friends, often for the first time, each girl confronts the painstaking and sometimes rewarding realities of actually living her dream. This unique documentary feature film takes a behind-the-scenes look at how it feels to be a twelve year old girl and embark on a career as a professional ballet dancer, all before they’ve even had their first date.   Produced by Merit Motion Pictures & vonnie VON HELMOLT film and directed by Elise Swerhone, TuTuMUCH made it’s Canadian premiere by screening at over 55 Cineplex Entertainment theatres across Canada in 2010. This is the first time in Canadian film history that a 100% Canadian-produced documentary feature has screened at this number of theatres on the same day. It received media coverage across the country and  the film then went on to screen at over 30 theatres across Australia and New Zealand.   In the spring of 2010, Telefilm Canada selected TuTuMUCH to screen as part of the Canada Perspective Showcase at the Cannes Film Festival and Market. Here it was viewed by buyers and festival representatives from around the world and since then has been officially selected to screen at international festivals and competitions including: The Seoul International Family Film Festival in Korea where it screened to sold out audiences; the Cinemagic Belfast International Film Festival for Young People in Ireland and the Foyle Film Festival in Northern Ireland.   I am delighted with the great media and public response we have received for TuTuMUCH” says International Emmy Award-winning co-producer, Vonnie Von Helmolt (Dracula-Pages from a Virgin's Diary, The Tale of the Magic Flute). We hope to continue to build on the momentum the film has created internationally and look forward to announcing more screenings in early 2011
