William Joyce at FMX 2018 | Animation Production DayFMX 2018 Conference on Animation, Effects, Games and Immersive Media Ludwigsburg/Germany, February 1, 2018. FMX is proud to announce three more animation industry heavy-weights as speakers for this year’s edition: William Joyce (Moonbot Studios), Stuart Shankly (Cartoon Saloon) and Lynne Naylor. Moreover, the Animation Production Day takes place in Stuttgart on April, 26 and 27, 2018. In addition, in the brand new episode of the FMX 2018 trailer series Behind the Beard, Bruno the Beaver is confronted by another powerful event. William Joyce, Lynne Naylor and Stuart Shankly at FMX 2018 "World building”, creating real worlds with inherent logic and cohesive settings is still reserved to a small group of very experienced concept artists. At this year’s Concept Art track – curated by Patrick Hanenberger, Production Designer and World Builder at The Neuland (more) – some of those select world builders will be presented. William Joyce (Moonbot Studios) truly impersonates this year’s FMX theme Creating Worlds. He builds worlds in many mediums. The director, producer, production designer, screenwriter, author, illustrator, app designer, and pioneer in the digital and animation industry won the Academy Award in 2011 for the best animated short film The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore, which was based on his New York Times #1 Bestselling book. After beginning his film career as a character designer on the original Toy Story, he has produced, written and designed projects with nearly every major film studio. Feature films based on his books include Epic, Rise of the Guardians, Robots and Meet the Robinsons. Currently he is directing his first animated feature film The Extincts produced by Cirrina Studios. Lynne Naylor, who received an Annie Award for her design work on Samurai Jack, will step into the limelight of the Concept Art track as well, sharing her wealth of knowledge with the audience. Moreover, the first confirmation for the FMX track The Art of Animation – bringing up the wide range of animation styles and genres from 3D animation to stop-motion and hand-drawn animation – just came in: Stuart Shankly (Cartoon Saloon), Assistant Director of The Breadwinner will share some insights into the Oscar-nominated movie. Animation Production Day (APD) Animation Production Day (APD), jointly organised by FMX and Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film (ITFS), is the most important business platform for animation projects in Germany. It takes place from April 26–27, 2018 at L-Bank Stuttgart and brings together around 150 producers, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents and investors in a series of pre-planned one-to-one meetings. Producers can submit animation projects in the areas of film, TV series, mobile content, games, crossmedia and transmedia until the deadline of February 20, 2018. A key part of the programme is once again the APD Conference which sees presentations of outstanding projects and the introduction of new business models and market trends. The APD Conference is open to all accredited FMX participants. Scanline VFX will be on board as a Main Partner. Moreover, there will be the opportunity to meet up with them at the Recruiting Hub next to congaz Visual Media Company, Eder, LIGA 01, Rise FX, who just confirmed their participation in FMX 2018 as well. BenQ will be represented at the Marketplace, while Vicon will not only have a booth at the Marketplace, but will also host a workshop. Furthermore, there will be a double chance to meet up with SAE Institute Stuttgart too: They will join FMX 2018 at the School Campus and host workshops. Rounding off the list of partner confirmations, TH Mittelhessen University of Applied Sciences just booked a booth at the School Campus. FMX 2018 Trailer Behind the Beard, Episode #3 In the new episode of the official FMX 2018 trailer series Behind the Beard, Bruno the Beaver is for the first time not confronted by natural powers. Now some supernatural forces seem to be at work … Learn more about Behind the Beard here.
