Athens about to celebrate 25 years

The 25th Athens International Film Festival GREECE ~ The Athens International Film Festival (AIFF) is about to celebrate its 25th anniversary and is promoting the event with a stunning new poster. Designed by Vassilis Mexis, who graduated with a first class Honours degree in Graphic Design from the AKTO School of Art and Design, the poster features a literal reflection of the number 25.

The irrepressible Terry Gifford headed the jury for the international competition

Gifford's upbeat comments about Kathmandu, the festival and Nepal as a whole, went down well at both the opening and closing ceremonies.

Official poster for KIMFF 2010

Tickets were priced at as little as 15 rupees (US$0.20) to attract students and young people.

Reception at KIMFF 2010 was always friendly and courteous

Festival T-shirts were only 400 rupees -- but that is three times the average daily wage for those Nepalis fortunate enough to have work.

A touch of grandeur at Kathmandu City Hall

City Hall in Kathmandu is as basic as a hall can be. Not a surprise in a Maoist-run country. The one concession to bourgeois trappings is this old chandelier which hangs in the entrance to the auditorium.

Rengalya: A tradition at Nepalese festivals

KIMFF started in 2000 and is now an annual event eagerly anticipated by an appreciative local audience.

KIMFF celebrates 10 years since inaugural.
