The MZANSI WOMEN’S FILM FESTIVAL is an exhibition and distribution platform that showcases films by women and about women. The festival also seeks to stimulate greater public interest and knowledge about films produced and/or directed by and about women, in addition to contributing towards integrating women filmmakers into the mainstream film industry. The Festival is held every first weekend of August in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The cultural association Parma OperArt promotes for 2012 the first edition of the Busseto Music Film Festival, an international contest aiming at giving a prize to the best soundtrack and therefore to the best composer of music for the cinema.

The first prize will be the Cigno d’oro (Golden swan). This will be followed by the Silver Swan to the best film, Honourable Mention to the best Direction, Photography, interpreter and finally the best music and sound design. The initiative aims not only at drawing the public’s attention to good and recent film productions but also at emphasizing the value of music writing for the cinema as an essential element for poetics and for the success of the film itself. The contest will also be an occasion for people in the film industry and producers to present their work to a wide public and to an international jury.

Moreover, Parma OperArt has the possibility to sell the film to a national television channel, so the Festival represents a great showcase and a further chance.

Those who are interested can present their film until 30^th June 2012. Films and videos from all nations, subjects and duration – not less than 25 minutes – can take part in the contest, as long as they have not been produced before 2010. Documentaries, opera films and/or films about the opera, biographies, animation films are all admitted.

With a promise to “Roll Out The Red Carpet”, The Van Wert Independent Film Festival will be launched during the Summer of 2011 at the beautiful Niswonger Performing Arts Center in Van Wert, OH - the first festival of its kind in the Northwest Ohio Region. The VWIFF will open with a “Celebration of Shorts” to showcase the best Independent Films running 30 minutes or less – to be followed with three days and nights highlighting the best Independent Films from around the country. The afternoon during the final day of The VWIFF will play host to “The Future” – an event that promises to showcase the best short features created by students from around the Northwest Ohio Area. The VWIFF will also play host to parties and Gala Events in order to attract thousands of attendees.
