Lawrence Meyers has closed multiple new deals on the epic Bitter HarvestLA-based Meyers Media Group’s (MMG) Lawrence Meyers has closed multiple new deals on the epic Bitter Harvest, a love story set against the 1930s-genocidal famine, known as the Holomodor, in Ukraine. Isaan Entertainment has acquired the film for Spain, while EnterMode picked up rights for South Korea, and Shaw Organisation will release in Singapore. With a cast including Max Irons, Samantha Barks, Terence Stamp, Tamer Hassan and Barry Pepper, the historical drama has already closed multiple international sales including Arrow Films for the UK, who are set for an early 2017 release; Becker Film for Australia/New Zealand; Pandastorm in Germany; B&H Film Distribution in the Ukraine; and D Films in Canada, who are set for a March 10th release. Tanweer will distribute in Turkey, while Eagle Pictures have the Middle East. Upon closing the latest deals, Lawrence Meyers of Meyers Media Group (MMG) commented; “This is an important story lost to history that will get to be seen by movie going audiences in such diverse countries because of both its historical nature as well as the parallels it draws to today’s events. It is a beautiful love story, which like Dr Zhivago in its time, is set against tragic events.” Director George Mendeluk co-wrote the screenplay with Richard Bachynsky-Hoover based on Bachynsky-Hoover’s original story. Canadian businessman Ian Ihnatowycz financed and produced ‘Bitter Harvest’ alongside Stuart Baird, George Mendeluk, Chad Barager, and Jaye Gazeley. Dennis Davidson, Peter D. Graves and William J. Immerman serve as executive producers. 09.11.2016 | American Film Market Dailies's blog
