' Mahmoucito' Strikes it Big in LIMA !

"Important Cinema Director in Lima, Peru" is the name of last week's article in a leading daily on Iranian director Mahmoud Reza Sani's visit to that country.

After presentation of his short "CHE, El DULCHE SUENO DE LA SANA", filmed in Cuba,at the 2006 Cannes Short Film Corner, the filmmaker has travelled to Lima for a retrospective of his films to enthusiastic local audiences.

His recent feature, 'THE WILD GOOSE', filmed at the Iraqui border has raised considerable interest (see pic).According to Sani, his fascination with Peru, has prompted him to extend his soujourn there in order to capture the magic of that country on his camera.

His production company, ARVANDAN, was set up around 5 years ago by the young director of mainly digital short documentaries filmed in Afghanistan, Iran, Spain and Cuba up to now. Films are low-budget but often filmed under difficult conditions - for example "Siyamo", is the first Post-Taleban "road movie" shot in Afghanistan where filming was strictly forbidden. Productions are independent and co-produced with usual professional partner in France.

Films produced have had considerable success at film festivals worldwide and follow a personal line: a soul-searching viewpoint, which though filmed in distant countries, touches audiences around the globe.

For Spanish speakers : here is the report on his Peruvian stay :

"Mahmoud Reza Sani, Presidente de Internacional Arvadan Film Company,se encuentra en Lima con intención de hacer contactos con cineastas para concretar muestras de cine peruano así como llevar a cabo una selección para los festivales internacionales de cine de Teherán, de los Emiratos
