Life
I came across this when I was searching for info on "Darla" from the Little Rascals, I was shocked and amazed to find out that you were in the silents and the Little Rascals and are still alive. I feel compelled to say this from the scriptures, "For what does it prophet a man if he gain the whole world but lose his soul" so with that said, true living is in God and his son Jesus who died in our place and if we accept that we will live forever....although I admire you, I hope that you know the Lord so that you wont join the countless who died without hope.....Hope in him and live forever!!! this life aint it, its only the dress rehearsal...choose real life....choose Jesus...God bless you

Good morning!
Thank you for your website and data on Jean Darling DeVake. Growing up (and still working on this) in the '40s an '50s, the 'Our Gang' and latter 'Little Rascals' was a 'no miss' after we finally got a television in 1953 when I was 10 years old. At some point in time, I recall a photograph in a publication of Jean when she was apparently about 11 or 12 years of age. A copy of this would be a treasure to own as, obviously, Jean was, and still is, a wonderful and beautiful person. Suggestions welcome!

Jean Darling
Hi Lane. As a friend of Jean Darling's I can vouch that she is indeed a wonderful and beautiful person. Quite enchanting and with a wicked sense of humour. (The photograph tagged to this article was actually taken in my house in October 2006 by BBC Northern Ireland when Jean was paying our branch of the Laurel and Hardy Appreciation Society a visit).
Jean now lives in Dublin with a variety of cats and dogs but still manages to tour extensively, usually to attend Laurel and Hardy and/or silent cinema events.
If you are interested you can contact Jean via her website (http://indigo.ie/~jdarling/) where you can buy an autographed photo and some of the other projects to which she has turned her hand over the years — she likes to draw animals and has written a vast array of scripts for people of such notoriety as Alfred Hitchcock. In addition she has written her memoirs in her book 'A Peek At The Past' and has just finished writing another, which is due to be showcased at the next meeting of the International Laurel and Hardy Convention in Amsterdam this coming July.
Even if you don't wish to buy anything she'll be delighted to hear from you. And, speaking as a friend, may I thank you for your kind, but thoroughly deserved, comments about Jean.
