EmilySchooley

Born in Calgary on a snowy fall day, Emily moved to a small town in Ontario at an early age. Growing up on the shores of Lake Erie, Emily was described by family and teachers as a precocious child. From a young age, she wrote and performed plays in her backyard, and frequently stole her mother’s 35 mm camera to take photos of whatever captured her attention. Passionate and talented, Emily excels in a number of creative fields, and brings the title of ‘multimedia artist’ to a whole new realm. Acting is her first true love, and Emily appeared in her first lead role – as the Country Mouse, in Aesop’s Fables – at the young age of five. After laying dormant for a number of years, the acting bug re-emerged at the end of high school, and she began her formal acting training at the University of Windsor. Extenuating circumstances led her to finish her degree at the University of Waterloo, where she graduated with honours. Emily has appeared in a number of short and feature-length films, shot and produced in Ontario. Her largest project to date is ‘A Shadow Shall Fall’, an independent TV series filmed in and around Southwestern Ontario. Her versatility in appearance and character mannerisms, and her love of performance make Emily a joy to watch on stage and screen. When she’s not in front of a film camera, Emily is busy taking photos on her Nikon D300. A bit of a purist, she loves natural light and shares many of her photos straight from the camera without any digital processing, though she has a soft spot for cross-processing and other photographic practices. Some of her favourite subjects include preserving abandoned buildings (she’s also an avid urban explorer), pets, candid captures, and macro photos of insects. Emily has had work published in calendars, and exhibited in local coffee shops. As if all of that doesn’t keep her active enough, Emily is also an avid writer. In her free time she writes fiction and poetry, and is still perfecting Mirai, a play begun during her travels in Japan, and completed as a first draft for her thesis project in university. Occasionally, Emily also works as an editor, and when she’s really bored, she can be convinced to do some modeling for other photographers. Currently, Emily resides in Waterloo, ON, living in a Victorian house with five cats and her roommate Keith, who plays Agent Marc Rice in A Shadow Shall Fall. Emily also enjoys dyeing her hair (she’s naturally strawberry blonde), random acts of knitting and other crafty pursuits, naming her electronics and vehicles, and driving well above the speed limit when she knows she won’t get caught.
