Made films without sound? Now there's a festival just for them.
The (Le) Poisson Rouge Un-Silent Film Festival:
A festival of new and classic silent films brought to life with live music accompaniment.
In Spring 2009, the LPR Un-Silent Film Festival will bring together both new silent short film works and classic silent film masterpieces. All films will be presented with live musical accompaniment in LPR's acoustically dazzling mainspace in Greenwhich Village, New York City.
There is only one category for submissions for the LPR Film Festival: Silent Shorts. If you have made films without sound, either professionally or for school, they are eligible to be submitted for screening at the LPR Un-Silent Film Festival, pending they meet the following criteria:
* The film is either without synchronized sound or is able to be screened without synchronized sound
* The film is 20 minutes or less in length
* The film was made in the last 4 years
* Films can be shot in any format, but all films must be submitted on DVD
Films can be narrative or experimental, black and white or color, live action or animated.
Silent films submitted with scores or musical accompaniment will be judged on mute, independently of sound. If selected, the films will be screened with LPR's live music accompaniment, not with the music submitted with the film.
Winning filmmakers, in addition to their film’s screening, will receive a complimentary “Classic Fish” membership to LPR, valued at $300, along with other exciting prizes TBA.
All films must be submitted by midnight on DECEMBER 31, 2008. All films should be sent to:
Le Poisson Rouge
Attn: Film Festival
532 LaGuardia Place, Box 345

Please include in your submission:
* A DVD (Region 0 or 1) of the work being submitted
* A completed print out of the application form below
* $15 in cash or check made out to "Le Poisson Rouge Group NYC, LLC"
