About the Director:

Michael Noonan is an award-winning Australian filmmaker whose credits include the feature comedy Down Under Mystery Tour (2010) and the documentary Unlikely Travellers (2007), which won the IF Award for Best Documentary in Australia in 2007.

His PhD in film and television production, titled Laughing & Disability: Comedy, Collaborative Authorship and ‘Down Under Mystery Tour’, explored the complex line between ‘laughing at’ and ‘with’ and was the subject of significant international controversy, some calling it “misanthropic trash” and others celebrating it as “groundbreaking” and “hilarious”.  It was completed in 2010.

Since 2002, his films have screened at dozens of Australian and international festivals. Recall screened at AFI Fest, Flickerfest 2007 and the 40th Hof International Film Festival in Munich. Applause won Best Script at Tropfest 2006, Counter was a finalist at Tropfest 2007, Baggage screened at Cinequest (San Jose) in 2002, The People screened at the St Kilda Film Festival in Melbourne, and The Last Aussie Hero Trilogy screened at The Palace Centro, Brisbane in 2003.

Film synopsis:
Three soldiers find a photo booth in the middle of a desolate, war-torn landscape and soon realise it carries a strange but disturbing message for each of them. As they enter the mysterious booth one by one, harboring their own fears and anxieties, their image is captured and a picture emerges, revealing the consequences that lie ahead for each of them: a happy family reunion for one, a fractured relationship for another and the ultimate, terrifying sacrifice for the third.
