About the Director: 

Catalina studied video production and photography in Bogotá and in 1995 moved to NYC to pursue her studies in filmmaking at the New School for Social Research.
At the New School, she directed and photographed two shorts: Derail(Cinematography Award and the First Place Audience Award at
The New Haven Film Festival . Bogen Tri-pod Award at The 19th Annual New School Invitational Student Film Festival
and Except my soul… (V Festival Internacional de cortometrajes “ El Espejo”, Bogotá Colombia (2008)

She worked on many short films mainly as a cinematographer. She remained at The New School working as a teacher assistant for two years.
She worked as an assistant for her experimental film professor, Alan Berliner, and then joined him, as a camera assistant for his film”The Sweetest Sound”.
In 2000, she founded her film and photography company Tren del Sur, which produces short narrative and documentary films.
Catalina also worksed as a freelance photojournalist for El Diario La Prensa in New York City.
She lived in Puerto Rico from 2006 to 2009 where she worked as a DP and editor for documentaries for the Puerto Rican Channel 6 .
She just finished her film Luminescence that had a grant from Jerome foundation .
She is in preproduction of a documentary about her grandfather José J. Gómez.

Luminescence is a poetically inspired experimental film about light – as mirror, as metaphor, as self-reflection, as shadow, as heat, as the ethereal wave particles of optics and physics – and ultimately, as pure energy - shimmering, glowing and flickering.
