Film synopsis:

Tellez is a severe and prestigious film critic, totally weary of Hollywood romantic comedies and certain that best of cinema already died. Maybe because of its work, suffers from what he calls the 'maladie du cinema': He sees the world like if it was a big movie he can't avoid criticizing. He unexpectedly meets Sofia, a young, attractive woman that has little in common with his good taste. 'Elemental, constructed on a basis of cliches' he would describe her. Random bring them together over and over in strangely idyllic situations. He tries to escape from a staging that he loathes, but suspects that the movie genre that he hates is taking revenge.

Invitation to Cinetopia film festival

Dear Hernan

My name is Hanna Sköld, and I’d like to invite you to submit The Critic to Cinetopia festival. Cinetopia is a participatory festival, with a completely new local/global concept. We will screen films at independent locations all over the world at the same time during one week.

Cinemas, cultural institutions, libraries and private homes anywhere in the world will become hosts for the festival during one week in september. The hosts choose films from www.cinetopia.cc, sell tickets and organize the screenings.

The income from tickets sold is automatically split between the host and the filmmaker.

We are filmmakers ourselves with roots in the independent film industry, and our goal is to create a more open, collaborating and transparent festival and film distribution system. No competitions and no gatekeepers. Just collaboration and sharing.

This is the second year the festival is arranged. Last year it was called Nordic Creative Commons film festival, and 60 different events took part throughout Europe, with 260 screenings.

We would love to have your film as part of the festival. Please have a look at www.cintetopia.cc, and submit The Critic to the festival.

I am looking forward to hear from you, and don’t hesitate to contact me at hanna@cinetopia.cc if you have questions.

All the best, Hanna Sköld
