Visegrad Film Forum

Visegrad Film Forum is an upcoming project organized by the Film Festival Áčko, which should enrich the festival by creating space for a cooperation of the V4 countries in the field of culture, specifically in the film industry.

Áčko Film Festival is a traditional national competition of students’ audiovisual works. In 2011, already the 15th year of the film festival will take place. The festival creates a space for students of film and media schools can present their works. The festival program consists of lectures presented by professionals, presentations on current issues in the audiovisual sector, screenings of students’ films and other accompanying cultural events. Students participating on the festival do not only present their work, they also learn, discuss and initiate new creative partnerships.

The basic idea of VFF is to cross borders in the field of culture as declared by the European Union and to strengthen the cooperation in the creation of audiovisual works between the V4 countries.

Target group: students with a major in film and audio-visual studies

Topic: The future of European film co-production.

The goals of the VFF:
* creating space for communication for students from the V4 countries, enabling them to get to know each other – in the conditions of European film, this represents a possibility of reducing tangible costs in the creation of audiovisual works and provides space for a deeper cooperation between countries, which is also in the spirit of the European Union

* bringing specific qualities represented by each country in film and TV production to an international meeting place for professional public and students by means of a series of lectures, discussions and screenings

* topics of the lectures
- Script – Scheme Developing
- Movie Promotion
- International Film Co-production - Case Study
- Fundraising
- Production of the Film in Unusual Conditions
- Special Effects and Stunt People in Low Budget Movies
- Experimental Film
- Other topics within the field of international cooperation

* building relationships, information flow and conditions for a possible future co-operation among art film schools in the V4

* Presentation of individual countries in the audiovisual sector

* screening of audiovisual works from V4 schools with an optional non-statutory prize of the Áčko Festival jury (which includes international representatives)

* the possibility for students to introduce their projects in preparation phases and to search their potential for international co-production

Partner schools: FAMU in Prague, SZFE Budapest, PWSFTviT from Lodz, Andrzej Wajda Film School from Warsaw and FTF VSMU Bratislava.
