Pune International Film Festival


Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) has been a much awaited event on the yearly calendar for the Puneites, organized jointly, by Pune Film Foundation and Government of Maharashtra. 

PIFF has exhibited National and International films, some of them the first time and of diverse subjects. The other events incorporated are competition in World cinema, exhibitions, and artist’s personal interactions with media, participation by the concerned film directors and after film screening artist's interactions with audiences at the venue. Marathi cinema and for students with cash awards, it is a perfect platform for discussions, net working with film personalities, through the seminar many innovative thoughts & film knowledge are delivered to the film lovers

PIFF has witnessed growing popularity each year. PIFF is acknowledged as the official festival of Government of Maharashtra hence it is supported by the culture department, Publicity department, Directorate of cultural, Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari, Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Chitrapat Maha-Mandal and other various department of Government of Maharashtra.

An event initially started as showcasing Pune has support from various embassies and consulates in India. The International distributors, film foundations, film makers are very keen to remit film packages at PIFF.

Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) has been a much

The 11th edition of Pune International
Film Festival
 is being held from 1-17 January, 2013

PIFF during the last 10 years has
exhibited National and International films, some of them the first time and of
diverse subjects. The other events incorporated are competition in World
cinema, exhibitions, and artist’s personal interactions with media,
participation by the concerned film directors and after film screening artist's
interactions with audiences at the venue. Marathi cinema and for students with
cash awards, it is a perfect platform for discussions, net working with film
personalities, through the seminar many innovative thoughts & film
knowledge are delivered to the film lovers

PIFF 2013 will be held from 10 to 17 January 2011.

7 Venus, 11 Screens in highly reputed multiplexes, More than 300
shows,  200 Films and 10000 delegates.

PIFF will display its cinematic universality to a host of film
personalities, celebrities, Media, technical delegates and movie buffs from
across the world.

PIFF would also like to be the platform for discussions,
net-working, film events and workshops and of course world-class competitions.

PIFF would like to be a part of the universal creative exchange of
ideas and forge collaboration with other film entities across the world.

PIFF showcasing films in different sections like world cinema,
country focus, retrospective, competition in world cinema and Marathi cinema,
Indian cinema

PIFF will hold competitions for diverse segments with attractive
cash prizes given by Government of Maharashtra in world cinema and Marathi
cinema
,which are judged by the International Juries who are eminent
personalities from around the world.

The "Sant Tukaram" Award for Marathi (regional) films is
an idea that has been pioneered by Government of Maharashtra and has since been
followed by the other states as good practice.

Whistling Woods, in association with Pune International Film
Festival (PIFF), having the annual Whistling Woods International
Student Film Competition.
Reaching out to students from all over the world,
the Competition offers budding filmmakers a platform to showcase their work and
win recognition from industry professionals.

PIFF had shown the variety of the films under the section, exclusive
country focus on one country each year
, like Japan (2010) and Germany
(2011). This section presented by the Consulate or embassies of the
participated country in India. They will take initiative to showcase their
country through the exhibition, workshop, seminars, retrospectives, delegation,
etc. during the festival. This year also will do same.

National Film Archive of India Pune,  Every year showcase the
rare films with particular theme under the section "Gems from
NFAI" 
which is a part of the festival. NFAIorganized the exhibition
of the posters of the Films during the festival.

This year PIFF will celebrating 100 years of Indian cinema,
on this occasion we have decided to have a special programs and presence of
Indian cinema. PIFF also has the proud privilege of honouring luminaries of the
Indian Film Industry with the for their valuable contribution to cinema and
programs.

Tribute section having paid homage to
people who have made an outstanding contribution to Indian & World cinema.

PIFF also honors luminaries of the film world by presenting the
prestigiousdistinguished Award for the outstanding contribution to Indian
Cinema every year.

The Directorate of the Film Festival, Government of India (DFF) also
supported as a Festival Partner. DFF give us the Indian Films in different
regional languages which was the highlight of the Festival.

The Directorate of the Culture, Government of Maharashtra involved
to organizing this festival. All the facilities which PIFF require, behalf
Government of Maharashtra making available through the department.

Film and Television Institute of India, Maxmuller Bhavan, Alliance
France also a part of the festival as a Partner. All the members of this
organization are part of PIFF.
