Krakow Film FestivalKrakow Film Festival (http://www.kff.com.pl/en/) is one of the world’s oldest events dedicated to documentary, animated and short fiction films. During 7 festival days viewers have an opportunity to watch about 250 films from Poland and abroad. Films are presented in competitions and in special sections like retrospectives, thematic cycles, archive screenings. Festival is accompanied by the Industry Zone (http://www.kff.com.pl/en/industry) with the Krakow Film Market and the pitching "Dragon Forum" as well as: exhibitions, concerts, open air screenings and meetings with the filmmakers. Every year Krakow Film Festival hosts about 600 Polish and international guests: directors, producers, film festival programmers and numerous audience from Krakow. The Dragon of Dragons awarded by the Programme Council of the Krakow Film Foundation for particular achievements in the field of documentary and anmated film. The group of artists who received this award in previous years includes such renowned filmmakers as: Kazimierz Karabasz, Stephen and Timothy Quay, Werner Herzog, Raol Servais, Allan King, Jerzy Kucia, Albert Maysles and Jonas Mekas. The Festival’s reputation is confirmed by its list of prestigious accreditations, awarded e.g. by the FIAPF (International Federation of Film Producers Associations), the EFA (European Film Academy) and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. As a result of these accreditations the winners of the Festival obtain direct nominations to the awards of the European Film Academy and Oscar nominations in the Short Film category. |
