Festival International des Cinemas d AsieKore-eda Hirokazu, Atiq Rahimi, Tran Anh Hung, Ermek Shinarbaev Four major directors at 18th FICA (Festival International des Cinémas d'Asie) Vesoul International film festival of Asian cinema 14-21 February 2012 With the wide audience of 28 327 people at last FICA, Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinema is part of the main film festivals in France. FICA is also the oldest film festival in Europe entirely dedicated to Asian cinema. 18th FICA - Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinema- will take place from 14th to 21st February 2012. 90 films from all over Asia, from the Near East to the Far East, will be screened with mostly unreleased or rare films reflecting FICA artistic purpose to truly be a research festival and a festival for the preservation of cinema heritage. 90 films structured around the following sections: * Thematic section: The Burns of History * Trends of Asian cinema today: Competition of feature films unreleased in France Competition of documentaries unreleased in France * Focus on the cinema from Kazakhstan: 1939 - 2011 * Tribute to Kore-eda Hirokazu: the complete retrospective * Asian French speaking cinema: Tran Anh Hung * Youth audience * Japanimation The International Jury Chairman will be Afghan director and writer Atiq Rahimi, awarded the French Goncourt for his book «Stones of Patience». Japanese director Kore-eda Hirokazu, awarded at Cannes, Venice... will be granted the Gold Cyclo of Honour for his complete work which will be screened. A tribute will be paid to Franco-Vietnamese director Tran Anh Hung (Gold camera at Cannes for «The Scent of Green Papaya » and Gold Lion at Venice for « Cyclo »). Kazakh director Ermek Shinarbaev, awarded a Gold Leopard at Locarno, will be the central thread in the focus on cinema from Kazakhstan: 1939 - 2011. Non-stop screenings from 9 AM to midnight; debates and encounters; round tables; cultural activities: tales, dances, literature, musical interludes, photos; special evenings: Japan, Kazakhstan, cultural diversity, Positif 60th anniversary; exhibitions; professional day; educational immersion day; consciousness raising: AAMI, Districts, Family Afternoon, Culture From The Heart ; filmgoers meal; publications; decentralization; reprogrammed films in Paris at Auditorium of Guimet national museum of Asian arts and National Institute of Oriental Languages. FICA is quality reaching everyone and great pleasure of all.
