EcofestIt is said that a “Picture speaks a thousand words” but when it comes to films it can actually translate into an epic. The strength & reach of a motion picture has always defined new benchmarks & more often than not managed to make an indeligible mark on the minds of the audience. This phenomenon gains ground more so with respect to issues pertaining to environmental degradation & nature conservation. Discussions & forums on environmental conservation though critical, have lost their potency & often end-up as drab & cliched to a great extent. Thus when spreading the message of nature conservation remains vital, spreading it effectively becomes the cornerstone of this grave issue. Ecofest’09 aims to get some of the best creative minds in the business for spreading the message to the utmost extent. The idea behind inviting & screening these creatively crafted films is to make a strong impact upon the audience, which is the first step towards urging them towards concrete action. The competition would comprise of two categories –1) Short-Film Category: In this category, participants need to shoot a short-film or a short documentary or make a short animation that would effectively convey the message of environmental conservation. The duration of the film can be a maximum of 20mins and can be shot on any type of camera and be edited on any type of software.2) Presentations: In this category, participants need to make an audio-visual self-explanatory presentation – a compilation of photographs, slides, captions catering to the core theme. The duration of the presentation can be a maximum of 10mins.Selected films and presentations will be screened at Pune, Maharshtra, India in Nov 2009. Last date of entries is 30 Sept 2009 For any queries email on
