Through the 15 awards that we hand out, we are committed to highlighting independent movie makers everywhere whom, despite their challenges and restrictions, are able to produce movies rich with stories that not only entertain but also touch us on a deeply human level. Our 6th annual event will take place March 5 - 27, 2012. Our submission deadlines are as follows: Early bird Deadline – May 31, 2011 Regular Deadline – July 31, 2011 Late Deadline – September 30, 2011 WAB Extended Deadline – October 31, 2011 The competitive event is open to films and videos with production dates after June 2009 of all genres, subject matter, and lengths. The event is produced by Indie Film Force, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2005, which also produces the already established Charlotte Film Festival The mission of the Charlotte Horror Fest is to bring filmmakers and film fans together for a celebration of the Horror and Sci-Fi genres. To create an event where the films can receive a quality projection that is on par with the dedication and perseverance that went into making them and fans can experience the works the way the filmmakers envisioned it. Along the way, we encourage fans to jump in and participate in whatever creative way feels right, so that the recipe will be complete and we’ll be able to fulfill what is the ultimate goal of the festival: to create and celebrate community. Now, we are filmmakers too. So we understand that excellence is usually more easily noticed if it’s formally awarded.
