Suddenly, Paris has become a lot colder and it’s fair to say that autumn is definitely here to stay. Luckily though ÉCU hasn’t been spending much time in Paris at all this month!
The first adventure abroad was when ÉCU went to Raindance in London in October to check out what is going on with Independent cinema on the other side of the channel. Almost straight away, the team was off again to host “ÉCU in Georgia”, which was a huge success. ÉCU was very proud to take some of its f...
Werner Herzog deletes all of his unused footage when he's done making a movie. Why? 1: Storage takes up too much space; and 2) "A carpenter doesn't sit on his shavings either."
This means that he doesn't have the option to go back and re-edit films. "I accept all my errors, and my films have many of them." You have to accept that the "child has a stutter, a squint, a limp."
The great filmmaker delivered many gems and to a packed house of filmmakers and asp...

small to medium budget” – such is the definition of independent
cinema. Contrary to many other definitions, independent cinema is
defined not by what it is, but by its opposition to the cinema of big
Hollywood machines. This is, in fact, how independent cinema was born.
The birth of a new film label.
It was in the United States, in the 50′s, that independent cinema fir...

I thouroughly enjoy my visit to the OFF PLUS CAMERA International Festival of Independent Cinema (april 8-17) It is one of the most important and, at the same time, youngest film festivals in Poland. It takes place annually in Krakow as a part of the Krakow Municipality’s cultural project called The Six Senses. Two things strike me mostly: first you cannot escape knowing a festival is happening in this (georgeous) city, posters, flags, exhibits...everywhere amrking the event. That is so rare he...
