Eggsploitation: Controversial human infertility documentary finds fertile ground at EFM

ID Communications Inc. announces acquisition of "Eggsploitation" a documentary dealing with the controversial practice of buying and selling human eggs to infertility clinics.

Directed and produced by Jennifer Lahl, ‘‘Eggsploitation'' has just won Best Documentary award in the California Independent Film Festival of 2011.  The film highlights questionable practices in the infertility industry, in particular in the United States.  Focused on the lives of 3 women who have undergone a medical procedure in the process of "selling their eggs", "Eggsploitation" provides the real story behind this growing multi-billion dollar infertility industry business, and the consequences to  unsuspecting women who are targeted.

"This  fast-paced documentary directed by Jennifer Lahl really takes us deep into a world where attractive, broke college age women are systematically targeted and offered a deal "that seems too good to be true", whereby they are paid tidy sums of cash in exchange for their eggs which, might help other women conceive.  In fact, the film shows a much more sombre outcome, one where cancer and even death might just be the price they paid for participating in the offer  " says Dan Shannon, of ID Communications.

"...It's so important to take a second a look at where and how these things happen. It's unbelievable to see how people just walk into these surgeries regardless of further outcome. Human lives are what we are dealing with here, people tend to forget that" says Jennifer Lahl, director and producer for ‘‘Eggsploitation'', and President of USA-based Center for Bioethics and Culture Network

The film has been presented to select international factual buyers in attendance at this year's European Film Market in Berlin.
