An official event to mark the launch of the new bilingual English-Spanish eBook “The Audiovisual Public Policy Landscape in Latin America”. Published by LATC and sponsored by Olsberg•SPI, available for free download here, London and Rio de Janeiro, May 3, 2021. On the occasion of the publication of the new bilingual ebook, “The Audiovisual Public Landscape in Latin America / El panorama de las políticas públicas en Latinoamérica”, sponsored by Olsberg•SPI and published by Latin American Training Center- LATC, the free webinar in English “Pos-Covid Audiovisual Public Policy Challenges in Latin America”, will take place on May 13th, 2021 at 10am (Bogotá time) | 11am (Santiago time) | 4pm (London time) | 5pm (Geneva time).


This panel will feature Jonathan Olsberg, Executive Chair, Olsberg•SPI, Alexander Cuntz, Head of the Creative Economy Section, World Intellectual Property Organisation - WIPO, Silvia Echeverri, Colombia Film Commissioner and Board Member, Latin American & Caribbean Film Commission Network - LAFCN, Giancarlo Nasi, Vice President, Ibero-American Federation of Academies of the Cinematographic Arts and Sciences – FIACINE. The 3rd LATC Webinar will be a live streaming webinar in English (without simultaneous translation) through the Sympla Platform (Zoom), and will be moderated by Steve Solot, President, Latin American Training Center-LATC, and Associate-Latam, Olsberg•SPI.

About the authors/ panelists:
Jonathan Olsberg is a film industry veteran who, as Executive Chair of Olsberg•SPI, heads one of the world’s leading specialist consultancies that advise private and public sector global clients on strategies for successful growth. He has also been a producer and distributor of film and TV content. His first career was in finance on Wall Street and in the City of London for the British merchant bank, Hill Samuel.

Alexander Cuntz heads the Creative Economy Section at the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO). Before joining WIPO, he worked as a senior policy advisor at the Berlin-based Federal Expert Commission for Research and Innovation and as a research consultant at the European Commission. Mr. Cuntz’s economic research focuses on the economic role of copyright and the impact of digitization. Mr. Cuntz holds a PhD in innovation economics.

Silvia Echeverri is Director of the Colombian Film Commission since 2008, and board member of the world association of film commissions in Los Angeles. She is an economist from the Universidad de los Andes and a Master in Economic Law from the Universidad Javeriana. Mrs. Echeverri led the process for the approval of Law 1556 in the Colombian Congress, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism.

Giancarlo Nasi is a film producer with more than ten feature films in his career, which have been presented and awarded at the main film festivals in the world such as Cannes, Venice and Berlin. He is the founder and current president of the Chilean Film Academy and vice president of the Iberoamerican Federation of Cinematographic Academies of Arts and Sciences (FIACINE).

The launch of “The Audiovisual Public Policy Landscape in Latin America” marks the second stage of the new focus by Olsberg•SPI on Latin America, following the launch of its Public Policy Audiovisual Diagnostic Consultation, the free one-hour consultation service for public sector entities in Latin America, which offers an opportunity to discuss all aspects of a country’s or state’s audiovisual strategy with the firm’s experts, and how it could be improved or updated. The application deadline for consultations is May 30, 2021.
