Getting Warmed Up For Tribeca!Hello All! ....I won't be officially starting my Tribeca blog until the opening press conference on April 20th. But, so far, the good folks at Rubenstein have given me a chance to see press screenings of SPORK and AMERICAN MYSTIC. And while I can't write about either until I am no longer under embargo, be forewarned that there is one lighthearted romp you definitely won't want to miss at this year's film festival!
Most of all, I am looking forward to seeing an incredible Franco-American line-up that includes films like THE CHAMELEON with Marc-Andre Grodin and Ellen Barkin, and MICMACS, Amelie director Jean-Pierre Jeunet's newest dramedy about a man with a bullet lodged in his brain. Not to mention Eric Elmosnino's incarnation of the legendary Serge Gainsbourg in GAINSBOURG, JE T'AIME...MOI NON PLUS. And, alongside Francophile films with pre-existing buzz such as Ounie Lecomte's directorial debut, which is set in 1970's South Korea and entitled A BRAND NEW LIFE, Brilliante Mendoza, who was voted best director at Cannes in 2009 for Kinatay, will be offering up his new baby, LOLA, a tale of two elderly women forced to face the consequences of crimes committed by their grandsons. You can also now download all festival info with Tribeca's new mobile app. And speaking of I Phones, I'm hoping to bring you I-Phone video chats with some of France's shining directors live from the festival this year. Stay Tuned.
