The Real Film FestivalThe Real Film Festival starts the 2019 Summer with a bang, transforming spaces in Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland and Port Stephens with bold films of real stories and cutting edge documentary’s about real issues. More than any other film festival in the region, the Real Film Festival defines the Hunter’s personality. For over seven years, we have presented films by independent international, national and local storytellers whose presence at the Festival creates a buzz and honesty; a world class event right on your doorstep! Screen industry professionals who have shared their stories and expertise have included; Don McAlpine, Jillian Armstrong, Jeff Julian, Tony Buckley, David Caesar, Jason Van Genderen, Vanessa Alexander, Ian Hamilton, Scott Roberts, Paige Badenoch, Rachel Blake, Zac Garred, Anthony Marsh and William Ward to name a few.
The Real Film Festival’s contemporary programming positions it as one of Australia’s leading documentary film festivals and a real place for emerging independent filmmakers from which to launch their careers. Real Film Festival - 2017The weekend will unfold with a variety of feature length and short film screenings taking place at iconic venues across Newcastle, including an outdoor cinema – perfect for the whole family. We have selected an incredible range of films to show you this year as we celebrate real people, real places and real stories. The three-day program will inspire audiences and filmmakers alike, giving them the opportunity to watch, learn, create and connect by attending any number of our exciting events. This year we are holding 14 industry development workshops and masterclasses, which will give attendees the opportunity to learn from some of the industry’s most experienced practitioners on topics like how to make and market short films, acting, using YouTube to build your brand, game development, editing documentaries and more. Festival-goers will also be given the chance to ask questions and gain first-hand experience from the filmmakers at our Q&A sessions. https://realfilmfestival.com.au/
