Sibel's Silence Unseen Crisis by Aly Yeganeh is one of Bruno Chatelin Best for Fests curated features and docs.

August 2014. ISIS invades the city of Sinjar, home to a religious minority called the Yazidis, in the north west of Irak.

Sibel, a 13-year-old girl, witnesses the slaughter of her entire family. 
Alongside thousands of other women and young girls from her community, she is then kidnapped and forced into sexual slavery.

Sibel's Silence wins Best Film at Festival of Cinema NYC 2023

The 2023 Festival of Cinema came to a close on Sunday, August 13 with awards given out in 18 categories. Enthusiastic and emotional filmmakers and attendees celebrated at the Jamaica Performing Arts Center as it concluded the 7th edition of the Forest Hills-based film festival.

Aly Yeganeh’s Sibel’s Silence won Best Narrative Feature Film, and Pierre Guillet’s The Book of Harth took Best Documentary, with Althea Root’s Good Side of Bad winning Audience Choice for Best Feature Film and Melissa Rodriguez's Helado winning Audience Choice for Best Short Film.

Top individual awards went to; Robert Haufrecht (Subterranean Love (Olga)) for Best Director, Damien De Dobbeleer (Interviewing Guillaume Bogaert) for Breakthrough Male Performance; and Sophia Massa (Come Find Me) for Breakthrough Female Performance.
