INAUGURAL SHORTIE FILM FESTIVAL LAUNCHES IN OCTOBER 2019The inaugural Shortie Film Festival will be held October 3rd and 4th 2019 in Brooklyn, New York. Shortie is an independent, international festival for films 30 minutes or less. The festival fosters and propels emerging and provocative filmmaking with two days of screenings, Q&As, and afterparties for a audience seeking new voices and perspectives. The Shortie Film Festival received over 300 submission from more than 40 countries in our first open call. Entries are selected by submission only, and must be produced within the last two years. We accept films of all genres and subject matter without censure. The culmination of the festival is the awards ceremony. All screened films will be eligible for Best Film, selected by our jury comprised of individuals with original and diverse points of view from the international film community. FESTIVAL JURY: From left to right: Anna Panova Anna Panova is a Journalist, Filmmaker, and Producer originally from Moscow, Russia. Since moving to New York City, Anna has now acquired years of experience in reporting, a multitude of skills for producing videos, and coordinating photoshoots. She used to cover music and cinema news for Rolling stone Russia and other major newspapers and magazines in Russia. Ron Kopp Ron Kopp is the film programmer at the Paramount Center for the Arts, a newly restored historic movie palace in Peekskill, NY (www.paramountcenter.org). He has been a featured commentator on National Public Radio, creating "Advice for the Videolorn," a regularly running feature on Anthem, a weekend cultural affairs program. For many years he also wrote a column for barnesandnoble.com, "Ask Dr. Video," which prescribed videos to help people deal with their daily problems.
