Interview with Carlos Cuaron, Film Director "Rudo y Cursi"

Carlos Cuaron: WRITER AND DIRECTOR of "Rudo y Cursi, and WRITER of "Y tu mama tambien"

"In the poorest places are where you will find your diamond in the rough.  The moment of truth comes for everyone."

SA:  How does it feel to be part of the Mexican New Wave Cinema?

CC:  "Am I?  Oh, okay.  Well, it's cool.  You know it's cool to be that.   I don't know, I'm just a filmmaker, you know I  just make films. I did't know I was part of that."

SA: "Rudo y Cursi" is the first film from "Cha Cha Cha".

Cha Cha Cha is a new company by Alfonso Cuaron, Guillermo del Toro, and Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu.
What's the future for Cha Cha Cha?

CC:  "It is the first film.  Well, the future of "Cha Cha Cha" is producing their own films, Guillermo, Alejandro, and Alfonso's films. The next project is "Biutiful", Alejandro's film that he is editing in Barcelona, and I'm sure it's going to be a great film.

SA:  What's your favorite scene in "Rudo y Cursi".
CC: " I guess, the first penalty kick."

SA: What's it like to work with Gael and Diego?
CC: It's great, it's a privilege.  These two guys are just amazing, the chemistry they have between the two of them is something that saves you years of rehearsals, and it's a lot of fun.

SA  Where did you shoot?
CC:  We shot in the Pacific Coast of Mexico, on the borders, between the states of Colima Coliseo. We also shot in  Mexico City, and at Estadio Coruco Diaz, or what we call,  "La Bombonera" Stadium.

SA: Do you play soccer?
CC:  Yes, I do, ever Saturday.

SA:  Who is your favorite team?
CC: In Mexico,  Cosa Su, but  It's a bad question, because it is the worst team this season.

________

Story:  2 stepbrothers leave peasant town in Mexico to pursue professional futbol/soccer, singing, and fame and all it's glory, or lack there of.

Q&A:

Q: How did you find the story:
CC: "I always wanted to do a story about soccer, and I realized that I wanted to work with both Diego and Gael again.  I told them that I didn't want to make "Y tu Mama Tambien 2".

Q: How was it to work on set with everyone?
CC:  "It was a lot of fun shooting.  We shot in Jalus Calima,, Mexico City, one of the weridest places on earth.

Gael: It was a lot of fun.  We are much more mature now than in "Y tu Mama Tambien".  We have less hair and more body fat.

Diego:  They didn't have to use special effects when I was playing soccer.
Carlos:  "Truly speaking, they are both crappy futbol/soccer players.

Q: Can you sing? (Who in the film was trying to become a pro singer, and sang, "I want you to want me, while dressed as a cheesy cowboy"
Gael:  I love singing, who doesn't?

Rudo y Cursi

Great Job Carlos!
Que desepcion tambien de Gael Garcia que se preste a hacer peliculas como esta. Es una verguenza.
