The awards ceremony and closing gala was held on Saturday night but Sunday was a festival bonus day with many repeat screenings to help harried film fans catch up on some entries they might have missed because of the vicissitudes of screening schedules. I had a banner final day picking up on four key films from four countries in four different languages; to wit, Polish, Italian, Latvian, and German. The Polish film Cold War (Zimno Wojna) by Pawel Pawlikowski in the Forum of European film...
By Alex Erekle Leonadze <filmfestivals.com> Day four was marked by personal appearances on the stage of the great hall of the Amirani Theater by special festival guest Peter Greenaway and legendary Soviet Georgian director Griorgi Shengelaya. Ben is Back, Review: Super Mom’s benediction v/s Son’s drug addiction Ben, the titular character, is a nineteen year-old boy who’s come back home for a Christmas visit from his rehabilitation centre. A hardcore drug addict, he has been clean for long enough to earn his holiday. Yet, his visit is going to hurtle his family into a crisis they could never have imagined. Ben is Back is not the routine drug-mafia/gang-war film. Instead, it is a thoroughly watchable hearts and min...

Mortal Engines, Review: Municipal Darwinism in a dystopian future Charles Darwin’s theory of survival of the fittest is taken to its logical conclusion in the future, where mini cities stand on mobile machines that serve as crushers and gobblers of smaller ones, appropriating their resources and enslaving the captured populace. The process is called Municipal Darwinism, and no one is safe. Slick and deeply disturbing, Mortal Engines is thought-provoking viewing and full of metaphors. T...

"A film that Google does not want you to see - filmfestivals.com Best for Fest"
An eye-opening documentary, The Creepy Line reveals the stunning degree to which society is manipulated by Google and Facebook and blows the lid off the remarkably subtle – hence powerful – manner in which they do it.
The Creepy Line is a title culled from the words of former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, when during a 2010 interview he explained Google’s code of conduct: “The Google policy on a lot of things is to get right up to the creepy line and not cross it.”
However, as Dr. Robert Epstein explains in the film, “Google crosses the creepy line every day”.
Offering first-hand accounts, scientific experiments and detailed analysis, The Creepy Line examines what is at risk when these two tech titans have free reign to utilize the public’s most private and personal data to manipulate society.
There is no question that the “creepy line” is getting ever-creepier, and that the tech giants have crossed it.
