Newlyn and Penzance have a unique location at the extreme southwest of the British Isles, with a long tradition of Fishing and Visual Arts. The Newlyn International Film Festival was founded in 2017 by Redcliffe Films, Bristol (Diana Taylor and Anthea Page) and the inaugural event was held in April 6-8th 2018 at the Centre, Chywoone Hill, Newlyn, Penzance, Cornwall. TR18 5AR. It showed a selection from 126 submitted films in a across the course of the weekend and 4 awards were presented during the final evening’s ceremony and social event to the winning filmmakers . The enthusiastic response has led directly to a second iteration for 2019 which will be hosted at the Acorn in nearby PenzanceThe Prizes will be awarded by a panel of esteemed judges. This prestigious award will be chosen from amongst the nominated films meaning all films entered into any category are automatically eligible.

The festival will take place over three days and ther ewill be continous screenings on two screens.

Talks ,workshops, screenings, a festival party and an award ceremony wil give independent filmmakers a great chance to showcase their films.
