New Multicultural Film Festival, MissionFest, Coming to SF July 19-21, 2018

MissionFest, a new multicultural film festival, will bring together content creators, industry executives, and fans at San Francisco’s The Midway July 19-21, 2018 to promote, discuss and support inclusive and culturally-diverse film, series and digital short-form programs.

In today’s fragmented media environment, consumers have a vast number of content outlets to choose from, and mainstream platforms struggle to accurately represent the world around us. It is harder than ever for creators of inclusive, authentic storytelling to stand out.

“Our mission is to make it easier for content creators to showcase intriguing programming that reflects this generation’s rich diversity,” said Founder and Executive Director Cary Grant. “MissionFest seeks to provide a home for creators reflecting different lifestyles, genders, social views, racial and ethnic backgrounds, who all happen to embrace a broader spectrum of ideas, to come together and celebrate their art.”

MissionFest is presented by the executive team behind PREMO, a subscription-based digital network and studio focused on distributing and producing diverse and inclusive content for the savvy multicultural viewer. In addition to screenings, the three-day film festival will feature a series of panel discussions and “MissionTalk” keynotes from leading studio executives, distributors, technology firms, and production companies. Topics will address key issues including the changing distribution landscape, best practices in storytelling, the future of film festivals, crafting your pitch to land investors, and much more.

MissionFest has also partnered with San Francisco Travel to celebrate the City by the Bay’s distinct mix of cultures and early influence on arts, music and socially relevant causes.

“San Francisco Travel welcomes MissionFest to San Francisco,” said San Francisco Travel President and CEO Joe D’Alessandro. “The festival’s mission to welcome films and filmmakers of all backgrounds and lifestyles perfectly aligns with San Francisco’s rich history as a city that has always embraced people of different backgrounds, circumstances, and beliefs. All are welcome here.”

A one-year membership to PREMO is included with each paid admission to MissionFest. For more information about the festival, panels and screening categories, or to purchase tickets, please visit http://missionfestsf.com/. Film submissions can be made via Film Freeway: https://filmfreeway.com/missionfest.
