About the Cast:
ADAM BRODY (Matt Kane)
Adam Brody has crafted a distinguished career in film and television. He is now starring in Crackle’s drama series “StartUp”, and was seen in the big screen version of CHiPS, alongside Michael Pena and the film’s writer/director Dax Shepard.
Brody began his career starring as Seth Cohen in the popular television series “The O.C.”.
Since then, he has emerged as one of Hollywood’s hottest talents.
Recent big screen credits include Kevin Smith’s Yoga Hosers; the comedy Big Bear; Sleeping with Other People, produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay; Growing Up and Other Lies; Life Partners; and Think Like a Man Too, alongside Kevin Hart. Earlier in the year, Brody starred alongside Uzo Aduba and Maggie Grace in the controversial film for television “Showing Roots”.
Past film credits include Revenge For Jolly!, opposite Kristen Wig and Elijah Wood; David Talbert’s Baggage Claim, alongside Taye Diggs; Neil LaBute’s Some Girls; the provocative film Lovelace, opposite Amanda Seyfried and James Franco; Seeking A Friend for the End of the World, opposite Steve Carrell and Keira Knightley; Gore Verbinski’s smash hit The Ring; and Doug Liman’s blockbuster film Mr. & Mrs. Smith, opposite Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
Other television credits include starring as Billy Jones in Neil LaBute’s romantic comedy series “Billy and Billie”; recurring roles on Showtime’s “House of Lies” as well as on “The League” and “Gilmore Girls”; and stand-out guest turns on “Judging Amy”, “Family Law”, and “Smallville”.
AMANDA CREW (Larissa Kane)
A talented actress with scene-stealing performances on television and in film, Crew continues to evolve her craft with each new role. She can currently be seen in season 3 of HBO’s Emmy® and Golden Globe® Award nominated series “Silicon Valley”.
On the big screen, Crew recently appeared opposite Blake Lively and Harrison Ford in The Age of Adaline, and in Race opposite Jason Sudeikis. She starred opposite Zac Efron in Charlie St. Cloud. She can next be seen in Table 19, opposite Anna Kendrick.
Previously, Crew appeared in Carl Bessai’s Bad City, written by and co-starring Aaron Brooks and Dustin Milligan. This marked her second time working with Bessai, after having previously starred in The Repeaters. Other film credits include Jobs, The Identical, Crazy Kind of Love, The Haunting of Connecticut, Knife Fight and Sex Drive.
Born and raised in Langley, British Columbia, Crew began her professional acting career in 2003 when she was cast as a series regular on the Canadian television series “15/Love”.
In 2005, Crew landed the female lead in the CTV hit series “Whistler,” followed by supporting roles in the films Final Destination 3 and She’s The Man.
In 2007, she won the Leo Award for Best Lead Female in a Dramatic Series for her portrayal of Carrie Miller on “Whistler.” In 2016, she won the Golden Maple Award for Newcomer of the Year for her role in HBO’s “Silicon Valley”.
ZOE BELKIN (Isabelle Pelway)
Belkin has appeared in such films as Kiss and Cry, Darken, Carrie, Perfect Sisters, Deadly Inferno, Salem Falls and The Story of Luke. She can also be seen in “Degrassi: The Next Generation”, “Breakout Kings”, “Overruled”, “Aaron Stone”, “The Latest Buzz”, “Rookie Blue”, and “Flashpoint.”
SHEILA McCARTHY (Ann Pelway)
A popular fixture on Canadian stages for four decades, McCarthy’s most recent theatre credits include “Half Way There”, “Therefore Choose Life”, “The Arsonists”, “Lost In Yonkers”, the world premiere of “Mrs. Parliament’s Night Out” and “Love, Loss & What I Wore”. A veteran of The Stratford Festival, she headlined productions of “Anything Goes”, “School for Scandal”, “The Imaginary Invalid”, “Guys & Dolls”, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, and “Three Penny Opera “. She is a two-time Dora Mavor Moore Award winner for her work in “Really Rosie” and “Little Shop of Horrors”.
Her extensive film credits include I’ve Heard the Mermaids Singing [Genie Award/Best Actress, Charles Chaplin Award in Vevey, Switzerland, and People’s Choice Award at the Cannes Film Festival, 1987], Lotus Eaters [Genie Award, Best Actress, 1994]. Other films include Cardinal, Considering Love and Other Magic, Milton’s Secret, Brace for Impact, Ice Girls, Algonquin, No Stranger Than Love, Antiviral, Breakfast with Scot, The Stone Angel, Die Hard 2, The Day After Tomorrow, Being Julia, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, Rare Birds, and Stepping Out (with Liza Minnelli).
McCarthy played a leading role on CBC’s hit TV series “Little Mosque on the Prairie” as well as on CBC’s “Emily of New Moon” (for which she won the Best Actress Gemini Award twice). She has guest starred on countless series including “Conviction”, “Orphan Black”, “Saving Hope”, and “Murdoch Mysteries”. She was featured on the hit ABC series “Picket Fences” as well as on CBC’s “Street Legal”, “This Is Wonderland”, “Sesame Street” [Gemini/Best Featured Actress, 2000] and on “A Nest of Singing Birds”.
An accomplished writer, producer, choreographer and director, McCarthy trained at the University of Victoria and with the National Ballet School, as well as in NYC with Uta Hagen at HB Studio. She has taught at The National Theatre School, Humber College, at Stratford Shakespeare’s Summer School, and has also mentored Stratford apprentices. She has several scripts in development, both for the stage and the screen.
KRISTA BRIDGES (Jessica)
Bridges has played a wide range of leading and supporting roles in both comedy and drama.
Her feature film credits include starring in Narc opposite Jason Patrick and Ray Liotta; in Goliath opposite Andrea Roth; in The Colossal Failure of the Modern Relationship opposite Enrico Colantoni; as well as the independent feature Coconut Hero. She also had supporting roles in the feature films Aurora Borealis, opposite Joshua Jackson and Donald Sutherland; in Niagara Motel, opposite Wendy Crewson; and in The Land of The Dead, directed by George Romero, to name but a few.
In television, Bridges has been busy with regular roles in the NBC series “Heroes Reborn” as well as the Bravo series “19-2”. Other television credits include the CBC’s “Republic of Doyle”, “Naked Josh”, as well as “Power Play”. She has had guest starring roles in such acclaimed series as “Hannibal” (NBC), “Ransom” (Global/CBS), “Incorporated” (Syfy), “Saving Hope” (CTV), “Haven” (Syfy), “Leap Years”, and “Strong Medicine”. Most recently, she just completed the pilot “Let The Right One In” for TNT.
In 1992, she was nominated for a Genie Award as Best Supporting Actress in a dramatic role for Gail Harvey’s feature film debut The Shower.
ALISON BROOKS (Ruth Stanton)
Brooks recently completed work on the feature films Downsizing, Kiss and Cry, and The Rooftop Christmas Tree. She will also be seen in Special Correspondents.
Brooks has also amassed a considerable list of television credits including appearances in “Taken”, “Four in the Morning”, “The Girlfriend Experience”, “Raising Expectations”, “Saving Hope”, “Suits”, “Covert Affairs”, and in the mini-series “11.22.63”.
BOOTH SAVAGE (Clifford Kane)
Savage is a veteran actor, playwright and teacher. He holds an MFA from York University in Toronto. His acting credits include more than a hundred stage plays and dozens of leading and recurring roles in television and film, including: “Hot Shots” (CBS/CTV), “Chasing Rainbows” (CBC), “The Jane Show” (CTV), “Rabbit Fall” (APTN and SPACE), and in “The Last Season” (CBC), for which he won a Gemini Award as Best Lead Actor.
Recently, he played the role of Harry Sniden in the acclaimed CBC mini-series “Canada- Russia 72”, and the part of Principal Callaghan in four seasons of CBC’s “Mr. D.”.
His plays have been produced in theatres across Canada, including at Toronto’s Theatre Passe Muraille (of which he is a founding member), The Factory Theatre, and many others.
He has taught acting at York University, Humber College, and Canadore College.
He is married to actress Janet-Laine Green and is the father of two children: Akela and Tyrone. Together, with Janet-Laine, through their production company Brief Case Productions Inc., they produce projects for the stage and the screen. His latest project The Shooting Script was written for, and filmed by, the third year acting students at Humber College. He is currently at work on a new project entitled “Buck. Naked.”, a multi-media piece to be produced in 2017.
