About Greg Nutcher

Nutcher Greg
Greg Nutcher is a retired police detective, born and raised in New Haven Connecticut. For the most part, Greg has planned his path in life and has pretty much hit his goal in every regard. These achievements did not come easy though, nor did he expect they would. Growing up he always knew that he wanted to be an actor, however as part of his plan, it wouldn't be until he was able to devote his full time towards the craft that he would be able to attain this goal. As a young boy and teenager he worked very hard toward his first major goal, which was to own a home. He was able to save enough money doing everything from delivering newspapers to cutting neighbors lawns, saving enough money to purchase his first home at the age of 19. To offset the cost of the mortgage, he rented out two extra bedrooms. The idea of renting out his home quickly became a full time investment opportunity, and he went on to purchase several multi-family properties. Since then, he has had a very successful career investing in real estate.

At about this same time he was also interested in Law Enforcement. At the age of 20 he was hired by the Hamden Connecticut police department where he enjoyed a very successful career. Throughout his career he held many positions and received over 25 awards and commendations from The FBI, State of Connecticut and several police departments throughout the state. He believes that while dealing with a wide array of people and particularly nasty situations he developed and honed his skills at creating a variety of different characters. Greg is most proud of his position as a detective, where he believes, unknowingly, he learned a great deal about acting. Greg believes he developed most of his skills as a detective, while conducting interviews and interrogations. Greg says that any successful police detective needs to develop different characters that adapt to the person you are attempting to obtain information from.

These people range from witnesses and burglars to rapists and murderers. Greg received intensive training in interview and interrogation, and also credits his very talented co-workers. He says although he, nor the other detectives might not have realized it at the time, he was learning the art of "acting" from watching and listening to his colleagues while they conducted their interviews. He says to interview a murderer or a rapist for example, and achieve a successful outcome for the victim and their family, you must be able to become someone you are not, which means creating many personas.

Now that Greg has retired from the police department, he is enjoying a very successful acting career. He is currently studying acting at HB Studio in New York City, and has also taken classes at Micheal Howard Studio, Weist Barron, New England Academy of Theatre, Actors Gym, Play On Acting Studio and has studied extensively with Reno Venturi and Joel Stedman, winner of over 100 awards in the entertainment business.

Some of Greg's hobbies include woodworking, hiking, canoeing and gardening. He is also active in the community, currently serving on The Clean and Green Commission for the Town of Hamden, is a member of the Hamden Historical Society and Sleeping Giant Park Association.
