XXVI GOYA AWARDS - Getting started

Here we are yet another year ready to bring you a closer view of the Spanish awards -GOYAs- delivered by Academia Española de las Artes y de las Ciencias Cinematográficas.

The Ceremony will take place in Madrid at the Palacio de Congresos on February 19th.

Every year, the Academy celebrates the quality of Spanish cinema by presenting the Goya Awards, to the best professionals in each of the technical and creative categories.  A total of 130 films, 73 directors, 54 first film directors, 64 actors and 49 actresses; 104 European movies, 95 original screenplays, 41 original songs and even 5 animation films will compete to win the Goya Award in each category.

On January 10th the Academy will announce the list of nominees. Lluis Homar (actor) and Inma Cuesta (actress) will be reading the list and making a lot of people in the business happy having their work recognized by a nomination. Both actors are likely to be nominated themselves.

After the nominees list announced, Academy members will have a period from 16 January to 03 February to vote.

As usual the Gala for all nominees will take place in Madrid late January. In this event the Honorary Goya Award will be given to screenplay and director Josefina Molina.

Hopefully I will be reporting live from Madrid. I leave you know last year´s video to recall all that.
