Evolution Mallorca International Film Festival![]() ![]() The 11th edition of the festival, was held October 26th - November 1st on the Spanish island of Mallorca, will also boast for the first time a Cinematography Focus as part of the 7-day programme. MISSION STATEMENT Evolution, Mallorca International Film Festival (EMIFF) showcases innovative, provocative, socially-relevant filmmaking while positioning Palma de Mallorca, Spain as a global destination for a creative community. WHAT IS EMIFF? EMIFF is the fastest growing competitive film festival in the Mediterranean. Since its 2012 inception, the number of films screened has nearly doubled, and ticket sales have tripled. In conjunction with its sister screening event in Hollywood, CA, EMIFF is becoming an international launching pad for promising new talent in all genres. THE FILMS Raw. Fresh. Edgy. Hip. Distinctive. These are the hallmarks of EMIFF filmmakers and films. The selection committee and jury look for films that feature real, compelling stories, a unique point-of-view, and emotional range. PROFESSIONALIZATION, NETWORKING, AND EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH EMIFF brings together up-and-coming filmmakers and established industry professionals in a variety of settings designed to bolster partnerships, production, and community. SETTING The beautiful island of Mallorca is the awe-inspiring backdrop of EMIFF, and the island’s history, as well its young, entrepreneurial creative class, infuses the festival with a distinctive flair. While Mallorcans are finding new ways to embrace and showcase their country’s rich cultural legacy, EMIFF attracts filmmakers and audiences to the island in celebration of the intersections between old and new, tradition and innovation, authenticity and experimentation. ![]() Official Winners EMIFF 2022Evolution ICON award: Lone Scherfig Evolution Cinematography Icon award: Ed Lachman, ASC Evolution New Talent award: Laia Costa Mallorca Film Award presented by Mallorca Film Commission: Nastassja Kinski Best International Feature Film: Triangle of Sadness by Ruben Östlund Best Director INTERNATIONAL Feature Film: La Maternal, Pilar Palomero Best Actress INTERNATIONAL Feature Film: La Maternal, Carla Quilez Best Cinematography INTERNATIONAL Feature Film: La Maternal, Julian Elizalde BEST ACTOR Feature Film: Bulldog, Julius Nitschkoff
