You are alone named best at Northampton fest

YOU ARE ALONE named BEST NARRATIVE FEATURE at the 2005 Northampton Independent Film Festival

YOU ARE ALONE, Gorman Bechard’s dark feature-length drama was named BEST NARRATIVE FEATURE at the 2005 Northampton Independent Film Fesitval in Northampton, Massachusetts.

The feature from New Haven-based What Were We Thinking Films has already taken home four film festival awards: the Best-of-Fest VISION AWARD at Indiefest Chicago, lead actress Jessica Bohl has been named BEST ACTRESS twice (at IndieFest and at the Brooklyn International Film festival, where the film has its world premiere), and Indiefest also awarded the film BEST SCREENPLAY. And when playing the Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival in Birmingham, Alabama, it was the only narrative feature to receive an encore screening.

“Northampton had an amazing line-up this year,” Bechard said, “and to be singled out at one of my favorite festivals is an honor.” Despite making his home in New Haven, Bechard added that he considers Northampton his hometown/local film festival, as it offers the “best programming without having to drive to New York or Boston.”

The film, which has been dubbed “last tango in New Haven” by New England Film, is a haunting and tragic tale of loss and depression, filmed largely at the historic Hotel Duncan in downtown New Haven, Connecticut.

The production company currently has two films in development, both slated to be filmed in and around New Haven. One is based on Bechard’s controversial first novel, the cult-classic THE SECOND GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD, which tells the tale of God sending his quirky and rambunctious Daughter to save the planet, and the complications that quickly arise.
