Warsaw Film Festival prepares for 22nd in a month

The twenty-second edition of WIFF will take place October 6-15, 2006. The programme will include about 140 films from 48 countries, almost all of them Polish premieres. A couple of hundred guests are expected – film directors, producers, actors, agents, distributors. The Festival’s Motto: FILMS ABOUT PEOPLE, FOR PEOPLE.

The screenings will be held on eight screens in the heart of Warsaw. The ticket pre-sale, which is an event in itself, commences Friday, September 29. The complete programme will be announced at the press conference on Tuesday, September 19 at noon. Information about the programme will also appear on the Festival’s Website www.wff.pl.

THREE COMPETITIVE SECTIONS

The Jury of the fifth edition of New Films New Directors International Competition, headed by Czech filmmaker Petr Zelenka, will award Grand Prix NESCAFÉ nad 5,000 Euro to the winning film.

There are two brand new competitive sections: Regional Competition for films from Central and Eastern Europe and International Competition of Documentary Features.

Documentary Competition: BURNING MAN by Slawomir Grunberg and Ewa Pieta (World Premiere)

Free Spirit: SUMMER LOVE by Piotr Uklanski; starring: Val Kilmer, Boguslaw Linda, Katarzyna Figura (World Premiere at Venice)
