The jury will be made up of João Pedro Rodrigues, Juliette Duret and Lluís Miñarro

Five projects by renowned international filmmakers and emerging talents, have been selected for the second edition of VENTURA, the film training, development and co-production platform created by the Enfoques Cultural Association, organiser of the Play-Doc festival in Tui, Galicia.

The VENTURA organisation wishes to highlight the enormous quality of the works received, as well as the wide diversity of the proposals and styles from wide-ranging geographic origins. The five projects, selected from a total of 133 entries, are the following:

A MÃO, directed by Alexander David and produced by André Gil Mata; ANOUSH ET LES VAGABONDS, directed by Valerie Massadian and produced by Sophie Erbs; IMPOSSIBLE SCENARIO, LA MORT DE VIRGILE, directed and produced by Mitra Farahani; MER, ETOILE, FEMME, directed by Jeunghae Yim and produced by Helen Olive and Martin Bertier; and THREE SERIOUS LADIES, directed by Athina Rachel Tsangari and produced by Elias Katsoufis.

The selected international projects will participate in the third stage of VENTURA, which consists of an international co-production forum to be held on 20th to 21st January 2024. This stage is organised as a series of meetings between the selected projects and a prestigious group of international industry professionals made up of producers, distributors, sales agents and members of film commissions, as well as representatives of international funds, markets and festivals.

The international selections will join the five Spanish projects that have already completed the first stage of VENTURA, which consists of a professional training programme, and which will take part in the second stage, from 15th to 19th January, which consists of a writing residency with filmmaker Mariano Llinás

The selected national films are: ARI (HARAKUNE) by director Maider Oleaga; LA MALA GENT, directed by Amat Vallmajor and produced by Julieta Juncadella and Silvia Cruz; QUERER VIVIR UN GRITO, directed by Diana Toucedo and produced by Alba Sotorra and Andrea Vázquez; SE VAN SUS NAVES, directed by Óscar Vincentelli and produced by Elisa Celda and TODO ES CÁRCEL directed by Eloy Enciso and produced by Marina Perales and Fran Ruvira.

All participants, national and international, will present their projects to an international jury which will award a prize of €10,000, plus other prizes in services (sound, visual effects, DCP, national and international distribution) valued at €50,000 offered by partners and collaborating companies.
